Kim will be showing some selected abstract works at Ur·ban·i·ty,  a trendy downtown salon. They are  located in Bishops Landing, Halfax and will be presenting different artwork from Argyle Fine Art in the months to come. The opening show is  7-9pm at 1477 Lower Water Street.

For the month of January selected works from our “Abstract Metal” and “Echoes From the Past” Series will be on display at the Paper Chase Cafe on Blowers Street.

Its been alittle bit since we last updated. Here are a few things that we have been up to over the last couple of months.

BATTLE SNAP 1st Place photo!

First, I am very hourned to say that one of my favorite photos, “House on Hairy Hill” was awarded first place at the recent Battle Snap here in Halifax. Started by Chris Smith, Battle SNAP is a one night event in which fellow photographers enter their favorite photos and each person votes for their favorite. Thank you to all who voted for my photo there was many great submissions.

Sight on Sound Poster

The Agyle Fine Art is starting a New Music Series ”Sight on Sound”  at there Historic Properties Gallery. I was asked by owner Adriana Afford to create a poster for the first show featuring Musicians Dusty Keeler, Kev Corbett, Klarka Weinwurm and Ruth Minnikin. The poster is a combination of photos and photshop renderings.

Trip Around the Cabot

It was long over due but we finally made it to the Highlands of Nova Scotia. We both have a special palce in our hearts for the Cabot Trail being from Cape Breton. Be sure to check out the full gallery of Highland Images at http://www.pbase.com/mmkv/cabot_trail

That’s right folks we visited Five Islands, NS , Again! Only this time we travelled to the edge of the universe and found ourselves stranded on a beautiful island for three days with 12 outstanding artists.

The Argyle Fine Art Gallery was kind enough to invite us on a weekend retreat to the five islands as part of a group of 14 local artists. It was an amazing opportunity to network and gain inspiration from others. We were truly in awe by the talented artists that we met such as: Jeff Wheaton, Selah Koile, Mary Grace Koile, Chris Smith, Ed Beals, Gordon Macdonald, Dusty Keeler, Sherry Lynn Jollimore, Chuck Blazevich, Brandt Eisner, Joe Mader, and Gallery owner Adriana Afford. Thanks to the Argyle fine art we have met so many wonderful artists and made many new friends.

Also, the “Vinylview” show at the Argyle is now over and I am pleased to say that it was a tremendous sucess. Both my pieces have been purchased and will be in their new homes soon. Be sure to check out the Argyle, they are doing some new and exciting things for the month of August. Some of which include the opening of a new Gallery BLINK!, the revival of the Spontanous Lunch Art, and a variety of new shows.

It’s great to see how many of you are tuning in to see Adam and Eve’s latest creations and adventures. Our most recent escapade took us camping in the Five Islands/ Parsboro area of NS.

We set out early Saturday morning with our fingers crossed for good weather. To our dismay we found ourselves faced with little light and periodic showers for the whole weekend. Although the weather wasn’t the greatest, the beauty of this heavenly place and all of its surroundings made it worth every second. Luckily we managed to snap some pictures and a tiny video which will give you an idea of why the Bay of Fundy is one of the most amazing sites in the world.

We spent the entire Saturday combing the shores of this beautiful paradise. Despite the less then perfect weather conditions we decided to camp in Parrsboro at the Gloosecap campground. The camp site was wonderful; we claimed the spot on a bluff with an amazing view of the Fundy Coast. We spent the evening roaming the Jurassic looking beaches, I say Jurassic because Parrsboro is apparently home to a large dinosaur excavation site and judging by the coast it is no surprise. The famous Fundy tides expose new materials every year and the coast line has been carved to look like a scene from Jurassic Park.

Woken up at 6AM the next day by the sound of the tides going out, I dashed to the nearest Tim Horton’s and brought back some coffee and bagels. We quickly ate our breakfast and set out for a day of wrong turns and eluding waterfalls.

The first falls we attempted to visit was Harrington Falls. Finding Harrington Falls proved to be a fruitless venture. Our directions stated to go down Lynn road about 4.5 KMs until you see a clearing and a piece of litter, the writer of this book might as well have written follow the magic beans. We asked a few locals who looked at us with glazed over eyes and quickly said, “ohh you must mean the Economy Falls.”

Since we were unable to find the Harrington Falls we set out for the Economy Falls. We drove up Economy Mountain and soon found ourselves driving on a dirt road which seemed to branch off in a million directions, which all lead to no where. After an hour of searching these back roads we reached our limits of frustration.

Our final stop was at the Five Islands, where it felt like we had just stepped to the edge of the Earth. The Fundy tides were just starting to come back in so we quickly snapped some pics, reveled in its beauty and headed home.

If you have only one trip planned for inside N.S. we recommend this one. The famous tides alone are enough to keep me going back again and again. We plan on revisiting Five Islands on our next trip, which will be to Cape Chignecto.
